Brownsburg Parks seeks volunteers to participate in its annual Weed Wrangle® series and help remove invasive plant species from public spaces . The Weed Wrangle® is part of a nationwide effort to combat invasive plants , which threaten native plant life and biodiversity . Invasive plants can also cause significant harm to the environment by altering soil composition , disrupting the food chain , and even increasing the risk of wildfires .
Volunteers will be supervised while removing trees , vines , and flowering plants , and they will learn how to deal with invasive species in their own green spaces . Volunteers are encouraged to bring their work gloves , although all other necessary safety gear will be provided .
