   Celebrate the 96
   thAnniversary of San Clemente’s Incorporation with
   Fishing and Swimming
    
   January 23 , 2024 , …San Clemente , California…The City of San Clemente invites the community to celebrate San Clemente Day on Saturday , February 24 , 2024 , with two exciting activities for families to enjoy .  
   KIDS FISHING DERBY , 9 A . M .
   Rise and shine and join in the fun as the City of San Clemente hosts the 6
   thannual Kids Fishing Derby on the San Clemente Pier . Honoring the San Clemente Municipal Pier’s historic significance as a fishing pier , the annual Fishing Derby promotes fishing for children of all skill levels and abilities . The Derby is open to children ages 6 - 13 years and requires advanced registration . Fishing poles , bait , and hooks are available while supplies last , or you are welcome to bring your own . Registration with a pole rental is $10 per child and $5 per child if you are bringing your fishing pole .  The Fishing Derby is sponsored by Dana Wharf Sport Fishing , The Pier Grill , and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife , with support from the Fish for Life Organization . Each child will receive a t - shirt and a chance to compete in several categories , such as first fish caught , biggest fish , smallest fish , and most fish . Check - in begins at 8 a . m . and the fishing derby will begin promptly at 9 a . m .
    
   FREE RECREATION SWIM , 12 P . M .
   Get cool in the pool with free recreation swim from 12 to 4 p . m . at the San Clemente Aquatics Center , located at 987 Avenida Vista Hermosa . Attendees of all ages can swim in the pool , listen to music , and play on the play structure . Recreation Swim pool rules apply . Children under 17 years must be accompanied by an adult .
