Residents , please take note!To make it easier for residents to dispose of potentially dangerous or environmentally threatening items for recycling , SWALCO is resuming its Special Materials Collection Program .   Beginning in March at its Gurnee facility , located at Highway 41 and Delaney Road , SWALCO will accept paint , propane tanks , fire extinguishers , and child car seats .   Residents can make an appointment on - line at any of the five appointed times in March , May , July , September , or October .   Items also will be collected from unscheduled arrivals .   Specific dates will be announced later this month .  
   There is a fee for the service:
   Quart or less of paint $2 .
   One gallon of paint $4 . 50 .
   5 - gallon container of paint $11 . 50 .
   Single use isobutane cylinder $4 . 25 .
   Fire extinguisher $3 .
   Child car seat $15 .
