Basalt Sunday Market Assistant -
$20 - $25/hour
The Market Assistant will act as the assistant to the Basalt Sunday Market Manager from market set up through market break down and clean up. The position requires personal confidence, willingness to help, and the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people.
The Basalt Sunday Market Assistant will work closely with the Basalt Sunday Market Manager. The Assistant will be required to work every Sunday from June 19 through September 25, and will work from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM, to help with market set up, will stay through the market, and will help with break-down and clean up at the conclusion of the market. The Assistant will help to ensure Midland Spur, Lions Park, and all other locations impacted by the Market are cleared by 3:00 pm.
During the market the Market Assistant will serve as a point of contact for other vendors and those with questions about the market when the Market Manager is not available. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Set up chairs/tables/umbrellas and the canopy for the musicians;
Set up the trash/recycling/compost collection stands;
Remove traffic cones and signage from parking spaces. Place cones in area adjacent to the stage at Lion’s Park, and signage in bin in market closet;
Bring out spider boxes and place in appropriate locations;
Place A-frame Sunday Market signs at location along Two Rivers Road and at the corner of Two Rivers Road and Midland Avenue, bring these back at the conclusions of the market;
Return equipment to closet at the conclusion of the market;
Bring trash and recycling to the Public Works dumpster at 200 Fiou Lane;
Bring compost bags to the compost dumpster adjacent to Town Hall.
In addition, the Market Assistant should inform the Market Manager of any needs, such as trash bags that are running low in the market closet, or equipment that is broken.
