STRUCTURE FIRE - - 1945 Baird Ave
The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1945 Baird Ave today , January 22 , 2024 at 10:15AM . The response included all three stations and the 13 personnel on duty . Upon arrival , personnel encountered smoke and fire from the rear of the residence . Battalion Chief Brackett established command and the Brooks St . Station crew used a hose line to extinguish the bulk of the fire from the exterior before making entry . Upon arrival , the Central Station crew established water supply from a nearby hydrant and performed a search of the residence for any potential victims; the Fremont St Station crew arrived on scene and performed a secondary search . There were no occupants inside the residence at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported .
An emergency callback of off duty fire personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage for the City . The house was determined to be a total loss with preliminary damage estimates at $25 , 000 .
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Galesburg Fire Investigators in cooperation with the Office of the State Fire Marshal .
