POSITION SUMMARY
The primary function of the Recreation Specialist – Programming position is planning, scheduling, organizing, implementing and supervising adult programming, fitness classes, senior programs and special events for the department; assist with the facility reservations for meeting rooms at the Brentwood Community Center, outdoor pavilions and daily operations of the Welcome Desk.

Work Schedule:
Full Time-Primarily weekdays, evenings and weekends dependent upon meetings, programs and special events.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver a safe and excellent customer service experience to our residents, members and patrons.
Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures, suggest changes in current practices when necessary.
Plan, coordinate, market and evaluate adult programming, fitness classes, senior programs and special events for the department; coordinate statistical reports relating to program enrollments and finances.
Interview, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate part-time instructors.
Submit, review and maintain program information in the brochure and recreation software.
Prepare and monitor programming budget including programming revenue, part-time staff expenditures as well as other contractual expenditures and supplies.
Manage the daily operations of the senior transportation service.
Interview, hire, train, supervise and evaluate part-time senior transportation service drivers.
Assist with the daily operations of the Welcome Desk and general facility reservations for the Brentwood Community Center.
Promote and procure sponsorships for assigned recreation programs.
Assist with the maintenance of the Brentwood Community Center by conducting regular inspections.
Instruct classes as needed; fill in for shift workers when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of recreation programming coordination and trends.
Knowledge of community relations and marketing techniques.
Effective oral and written communication skills; strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite applications and Rec-Trac recreation software.
Ability to interact with and maintain good relations with patrons, public and staff.
Ability to supervise part-time staff.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in the field of Parks and Recreation or related field and/or equivalent work experience and education.
Minimum one year experience years in the Parks and Recreation, programming or rental management.
Certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and First Aid required within three months of employment.
Professional certification desired.
