☷Recreation Plan for South Sand Wash Open OHV Area Public Scoping Meetings

CRAIG , Colo . - Craig Chamber of Commerce , Northwest Colorado Outdoor Coalition , and the Bureau of Land Management Little Snake Field Office are kicking off a process to complete a Recreation Area Management Plan and associated Environmental Assessment for the South Sand Wash Open Off Highway Vehicle ( OHV ) Area . The process for the South Sand Wash Open OHV Area Plan will involve the entire community to define improvements to achieve the desired vision for the area . The goals for the project include:Planning for new recreational infrastructure such as shelters , campgrounds , and staging areas . Highlighting our renowned natural landscape and limiting damage to sensitive sites . Promoting economic development and creating partnerships for funding . Providing increased wayfinding and interpretation improvements . Partnering with community to support a variety of activities and events . The public is invited to attend two open houses and provide comments . These first meetings will provide information on the project schedule and purpose and gather feedback from the public on future goals and implementation for the Open OHV Area . Information materials will be the same at both meetings . The meetings will be held on Wednesday May 4 , 4 - 7 p . m . at the Craig Chamber of Commerce , and Thursday , May 5 , 4 - 7 p . m . at the Maybell Community Center .
