RFE/RL has chosen Stephen Capus as their Acting President , starting from January 1 , 2024 . Capus will hold this position until the International Broadcasting Advisory Board is confirmed and can vote on his appointment . Capus has a wealth of experience in network news management and journalism , including serving as the President of NBC News . He has previously worked with RFE/RL as a consultant and is well - equipped to lead the company . Capus will take over from Jamie Fly , who stepped down earlier this year . RFE/RL is a respected international news organization funded by the U . S . Congress .
