JOB SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the incumbent is to supervise, assign and review the work of the staff responsible for maintaining the City pool facility in a safe and orderly fashion, to oversee and participate in all work activities and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. The incumbent must be able to work weekends and holidays during the pool season.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for the safety and operation of pools.
*
Establish schedules and methods for providing City pool services; supervise and schedule pool staff; identify resource needs; review needs with supervisor; allocate resources accordingly.
*
Provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
*
Monitor and order chemicals needed for the safe operation of the pool.
*
Prepare a variety of analytical reports on operations and activities; report incidents and accidents; notify emergency personnel as needed.
*
Walking, standing or sitting for long periods of time. Will also be required to climb and swim.
*
Push and pull pool vacuum, scrub sides and floor, clean restrooms and pool deck. Also twisting, crouching and crawling to clean pool area.
*
Test pool water for chemicals and treat as necessary.
*
Lifting and carrying boxes of supplies and chemicals weighing at least 50 pounds. Possible kneeling to pick up chemicals.
*
Maintain appropriate appearance and personal hygiene.
*
Standing or walking on wet concrete.
*
Sitting on a Life Guard stand
*
Interact with children.
*
Hearing and talking to speak with citizens and employees on the phone and in person. Hearing someone call for help.
*
Vision – be able to scan pool for distress.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
*
Attend and participate in meetings and training, keeping abreast of new trends and innovations in the fields of first aid, water safety instruction and lifesaving.
*
Take responsibility of money for admissions and vending machines.
*
Perform other duties as required.
*
Must be able to perform duties of the Recreation/Pool Coordinator in his/her absence.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSE:
Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) and a valid Texas Driver’s License and a good driving record. Ability to obtain a valid CPR and First Aid Certificate and American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Two years of increasingly responsible experience in water safety. The ability to obtain appropriate training on proper pool maintenance.
STARTING SALARY
$11.00
Hour.
