and be passionate about joining our community policing department. The ideal candidate possesses related work experience and a desire to provide community-oriented policing in our mountain town.
Individuals selected for this position will participate in a Police Academy at the Town of Eagle’s cost for the academy tuition and all associated academy related costs, excluding room/board, travel, and food. Academy recruits are paid
$29.00/hr.
during the academy and offered employment as a Police Officer contingent upon completion of the academy, POST certification and a vacancy in the department. All other pre-employment requirements must be met at the start of academy.

Upon filling a vacancy as a full-time Eagle Police Officer, you will perform the duties of a sworn law enforcement officer, as designated by the command staff under the Chief of Police. This position is responsible for enforcing laws and ordinances set by the State of Colorado and Town of Eagle. Work involves prevention, detection and investigation of accident and criminal activities, security and safet
y of prisoners, protection for the public and maintaining law and order. Officers must be able to act without direct supervision in emergency situations.
Pre-Hire Requirements:
Must pass all background checks and investigation. This may include, but is not limited to, oral board evaluation(s), written assessment, physical assessment, computer voice stress analysis or polygraph, psychological evaluation, integrity interview, school and employer record checks, criminal background checks, credit analysis, financial records assessment, review of driving record, and reference checks. No felony convictions, arrests or misdemeanors as stated in § 24-31-305 C.R.S.
Minimum qualifications:
Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Be 21 years of age upon graduation of a Town of Eagle selected Colorado P.O.S.T. certified academy
Be a United States citizen or a resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship at least one year prior to the date of application
No felony, domestic violence, or misdemeanor assault convictions
Be able to possess a firearm in the State of Colorado legally
Demonstrate physical fitness (and continued physical fitness) to perform functions and assigned job and/or academy tasks
Complete and successfully pass all aspects of the Department-designated Colorado P.O.S.T. basic academy
Ability to attend to a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, valid Colorado driver license and have a good driving record.
Desired qualifications/skills:
An Associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
Bilingual skills in Spanish highly desirable.
Academy Sponsorship Pay:
$29.00/hr. plus health insurance benefits

$30.75/hour DOQ upon successful completion of FTO process.

14 Days – 0-2 years of employment; 20 Days – 3-5 years of employment; 25 Days – 6+ years of employment
