The City of Norcross is seeking a Full-Time Police Officer (PD010201702) to start immediately.
Must be able to work 24-hour on call assignments, undercover, overtime, or weekends, holidays, as well as 10-hour, 12-hour, and rotating shifts. Proven ability to effectively and professionally response to crisis and other emergency situations.
Starting pay is $58,695.70 with full benefits.

e offer higher starting salaries for prior experience, education, certifications, military, bilingual, etc.
Now offering a $2000 sign-on bonus for uncertified & a $4000 sign-on bonus for certified.
The purpose of this position is to protect life and property and enforce federal and state laws and local ordinances. Successful performance contributes to the safety and well-being of citizens and promotes the efficient and effective operation of the department.
The incumbent in this position will handle routine, emergency, and/or complex situations within the police department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting preliminary and/or follow up investigations, and work independently in performing regularly assigned duties under the general orders of a Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain or Chief.
Responsibilities include:
n Patrols an assigned zone to detect and deter criminal activity and traffic violations.
n Responds to calls relayed by communications officers, including domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, lost or missing persons searches, public service duties, stranded motorists, and others.
n Conducts preliminary investigations into traffic accidents and other incidents, including interviewing victims, complainants and witnesses, gathering information and evidence, and securing crime scenes.
n Apprehends, arrests, and processes offenders, including juveniles.
n Provides assistance and backup support to other officers as necessary.
n Provides first aid and CPR to victims as necessary and assists motorists.
n Provides traffic direction as needed for events such as parades, funerals, ball games, and school crossings.
n Testifies in judicial proceedings; may provide security during court sessions.
n Transports prisoners.
n Completes all required reports and forms, including accident and incident reports.
n Inspects and maintains an assigned patrol car and uniform.
n Serves criminal arrest warrants, issues uniform citations for traffic and ordinance violations to violators.
n Assists with job of communications officer, as necessary.
n Provides security for the City of Norcross Municipal Court when needed.
n Provides security for Mayor and Council meetings when needed.
Preferred requirements
: Peace Officer Standard and Training (POST) certification, Associate’s Degree; must be at least 21 years of age;
no felony convictions
; United States Citizen (POST requirement). Prior experience and foreign language skills are preferred but not required. Eligible applicants will be notified of the testing date.
Requirements:
n High School diploma or GED and one to two years of experience. Associate’s degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
n Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
n Ability to meet current requirements set forth in the Georgia Mandate Law Enforcement Training Act.
n Must hold or have the ability to obtain a Peace Officer's Standards and Training Act certification and have the ability to become GCIC certified.
n Must be able to work 24-hour on call assignments, undercover, overtime, or weekends, holidays, as well as 10-hour, 12-hour, and rotating shifts.
n Proven ability to effectively and professionally response to crisis and other emergency situations.
