   WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., M-F. Some Weekends and Evenings. 29 Hours Maximum Weekly

   Incumbent serves as a Programming Assistant to the Extension Educators, responsible for assisting in planning/coordinating/presenting educational programs and activities.
   DUTIES:
   Researches and creates educational presentations and materials monthly (minimum) or as needed, writing objectives, creating visual aids, activities and evaluation tools with the input of the Extension Educators.
   Coordinates, creates, facilitates and presents Purdue Extension programs for adults and youth such as workshops, meetings, and camps as discussed including soliciting speakers, volunteers, correspondence and assisting where needed.
   Coordinates/creates special program enhancements such as (but not limited to) public initiative with Ag Days, school programming such as Eat Your Way To Better Health, Junior Master Gardeners, Captain Cash.
   Presents public presentations.
   Designs prepares/types, and edits various documents on computer, such as correspondence, reports, marketing documents, and programs. Works with other clerical personnel in printing, proofreading, copying, collating, stapling and mailing documents.
   Coordinates Educational outreach (short educational programming) using social media.
   Creates 4-H, Agriculture & Natural Resources and Health & Human Sciences Special Interest programs such as 4-H SPARK clubs in the areas of Civic Engagement, Science and Healthy Living.
   Facilitator/Coordinator of Youth Fall/Spring Break Camps, coordinating with the Educators.
   Assists with the Hamilton County 4-H Fair including (but not limited to) Educational Outreach Efforts, Demonstrations, Hamilton County Extension Homemakers, Communications/Social Media, developing a 4-H Fair App, and promotional announcements of the 4-H Fair schedule.
   Assists with Extension programs/events where needed.
   Performs all other related duties as assigned.
   JOB REQUIREMENTS:
   Associate or Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred. Candidates with a High School diploma and experience in the duties outlined above will also be considered.
   Knowledge in basic computer Microsoft Office operations, Excel, and familiar with on line design programs such as (but not limited to) Canva and MailChimp.
   Working knowledge of department policies and procedures, and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated tasks.
   Ability to type with speed and accuracy and properly operate a variety of standard office equipment, including computer, printer, telephone, postage meter, and copier.
   Proficient knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, other Extension departments, Purdue University personnel, 4-H leaders/volunteers/participants, Extension Homemakers, Master Gardeners and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
   Ability to self-motivate and work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.
   Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.
   Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.
   Ability to comply with all employer/department personnel policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
   Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information/records according to state requirements.
   Ability to occasionally work extended, weekend and/or evening hours and occasionally travel out of town for training.
   II. DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
   Incumbent's duties are broad in scope and of substantial intricacy, involving many variables and considerations. Incumbent performs according to the county department and Purdue University guidelines and general objectives, exercising independent judgment in ensuring accuracy of information to meet specific needs.
   III. RESPONSIBILITY:
   Incumbent applies standardized/accepted practice in researching and presenting information and programs to individuals and groups. Incumbent receives general supervision, and discusses unusual or unprecedented situations with supervisor as needed. Incumbent's work is primarily reviewed for attainment of objectives, and effect on department goals and objectives.
   Incumbent performs standard, recurring duties according to department policies and procedures. Incumbent receives indirect or occasional supervision, with priorities determined primarily by service needs of the public. Errors in incumbent's work are usually prevented through prior instructions from supervisor, procedural safeguards and proofreading. Undetected errors may result in loss of time for correction, loss of money to department, and/or inconvenience to the public.
   IV. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
   Incumbent communicates frequently with co-workers, Purdue University personnel, area Extension Educators, related government agencies, and the public, for purposes of exchanging and explaining information, coordinating and presenting programs.
   Incumbent reports directly to County Extension Director/Extension Educator.
   V. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
   Incumbent performs a majority of duties in a standard office environment, and regularly at event/ training sites, which may involve sitting for long periods, sitting and walking at will, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds, keyboarding, speaking clearly, hearing communication, close vision, and handling/grasping objects.
