The Lake Zurich Police Department Marine Unit has openings for Marine Unit officers. The Marine Unit is assigned to the Field Operations Division and the main duty of the Marine Unit officers is to patrol the lake within the Village of Lake Zurich during the months of May thru September. Additionally, the members of the Marine Unit provide support to the Department for traffic control at special events and/or emergency situations.
Marine Unit officers are classified as part-time, non-sworn, and non-contractual Village employees.
The Marine Unit officers’ job description contains the following position qualifications and responsibilities:
Applicants must be able to pass the applicant interview, background investigation, and drug screening.
Preference will be given to candidates with boating, police, and police explorer experience.
Lake Zurich Police Department employees are not permitted to use tobacco products while on duty.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license
Basic knowledge of boating and operating a watercraft up to 20 feet
Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to talk clearly using a portable radio
Basic computer skills
Ability to complete the Marine Unit training and CPR certification.
