POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an administrative and working supervisory position responsible for managing park employees engaged in the various operational activities of the Public Works Department. In addition, as needed, the position performs other work related to the construction, repair and maintenance of township equipment, infrastructure and facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises, coordinates and performs the maintenance, repair, construction and operational activities of the parks crew personnel
Provides general supervision of personnel and makes recommendations in terms of promotion of employees, disciplinary action and/or dismissal
Oversee all pesticide and herbicide applications are administered according to regulations
Manage and develop a department and Capital Budget
Assists in training of departmental procedures, labor methods and the proper usage of new and existing equipment
Inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with work orders along with enforcing rules and regulations
Reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures to ensure safe working conditions and efficient operations; and recommends changes as appropriate
Maintains and repairs small engine equipment such as, but not limited to, chain saw, string trimmer, mowers and pressure washer
Performs varied outdoor work in summer and winter conditions such as snow and ice removal, athletic field preparation, park and playground repairs and inspections
Maintains accurate records and reports of work performed, material and equipment used, employees’ time and provides reports to Parks & Recreation Manager
Performs all other duties assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience, Education, Licenses/Certifications:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of small engines, mowing equipment, infrastructure and facilities
High school diploma, GED or education equivalent
Ability to obtain CDL B license and required pesticide licenses
