The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is currently accepting applications for a
Certified Paramedic (part-time)
in the Emergency Services Department. The City of Mont Belvieu is a growing community located on IH-10 east of Houston, Texas in Chambers County.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for administering emergency medical care and transporting injured or sick persons to medical facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responds to 911 EMS calls.
Administers first aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured persons in pre-hospital settings.
Performs emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures during ambulance ride.
Observes, records, and reports to physician the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs or treatment.
Assesses the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
Writes reports detailing care provided; ensures patient care reports and records are maintained per state and department policy.
Cleans and performs chores required for the upkeep of the station.
Ensures daily medical supply and inventory (including controlled medications) are maintained per policy.
Participates in training and continued education.
Reports damaged or missing apparatus or equipment.
Performs any and all other related assignments or duties as assigned.
During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent.
Current and valid Texas Department of State Health Services license or certification as a Paramedic.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support, and Pediatric
Advanced Life
Support or PALS certifica
tion, preferred.
Minimum two (2) years of experience, prior to application, preferred.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
Successful candidates must pass pre-employment drug screen, job related physical and background check.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two (2) years of experience, prior to application, preferred.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS certification, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity.
Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility.
Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with members of the public and co-workers.

Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
