Goshen , N . Y . – Orange County will host a Hazardous Waste collection event for businesses , municipalities , school districts , and farms on June 10
th
at Orange County Transfer Station #3 and a Household Hazardous Waste and Operation Safe Scripts Pharmaceutical Collection for Orange County residents on June 11th
at the Port Jervis High School lower parking lot .
“These events give residents a place to dispose of unwanted and potentially hazardous chemicals that people often accumulate over the years in a safe , environmentally conscious way , ” Neuhaus said . “I hope that people take advantage of this cost - free opportunity to clear their homes of unnecessary and potentially dangerous products . ”
The Friday , June 10
th
event is for businesses , schools , farms , and municipalities
only
and will be held at Orange County Transfer Station #3 , address located at 86 Tow Path Road in Port Jervis . Pre - registration is required and the cost for disposal will be determined by the vendor based on the type and amount of waste to be disposed of ( up to 220 pounds per vehicle ) . Drop - off times will be scheduled by the vendor . A registration form can be found on the County website by clicking on the “Household Hazardous Waste” tab at

. Registrations will be accepted until Friday , June 3rd .
The Saturday , June 11
th
event is free for Orange County residents with proof of residency ( driver’s license or utility bill with Orange County address ) and will be held at Port Jervis High School lower parking lot , address located at 10 Route 209 in Port Jervis . The event will take place from 9 AM to 3 PM . Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to collect unwanted over - the - counter and prescription medication . Businesses , schools , farms , and municipalities must register for the June 10
th
event and may not attend the June 11
th

In addition , wet latex , acrylic , and water - based paints will now be accepted at Orange County hazardous materials collection events through a partnership with PaintCare , a new paint stewardship program established by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation .
