In New Orleans , Jarren Lee , 35 , admitted to breaking the Federal Gun Control Act in front of Judge Darrel J . Papillion on March 19 . Lee was caught by the New Orleans Police Department driving a stolen car with two firearms , one of which was stolen and both had high - capacity magazines . He has previous felony convictions for drug possession . Lee will be sentenced on July 16 and faces up to 15 years in prison , a $250 , 000 fine , up to three years of supervised release , and a $100 special assessment fee . This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods ( PSN ) , a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence . The investigation was conducted by the ATF , DEA , and New Orleans Police Department , with prosecution led by Assistant U . S . Attorney David Haller .
