Collier County Transportation Management Services Department ( TMSD ) staff are planning an open house style public information meeting on Thursday , Jan . 18 from 5 to 6:30 p . m . on Naples Park Area Bicycle/Pedestrian projects including the Vanderbilt Drive Sidewalk Project ( between Vanderbilt Beach Road and 109th Ave . N
.
) . The meeting will be held at Veterans Community Park , Room A , 1895 Veterans Park Drive , Naples , FL 34109 . Residents , business representatives and visitors are welcome to stop by to review the project displays and talk one - on - one with county staff . There will
not
be a formal presentation .
Currently there are six bicycle/pedestrian projects programmed for design and/or construction in the Naples Park area . Five of those projects are listed below along with a brief description and estimated timeframes for design and/or construction .
111th Ave . N . Paved Shoulders ( Blue Bill Bridge to 7th St . N . ) – Construction to start in April 2024
109th Ave . N . - Sidewalks from Vanderbilt Drive to US 41 ( Design planned in Fiscal Year ( FY ) 2027 )
108th Ave . N . - Sidewalks from Vanderbilt Drive to US 41 ( Design planned in FY 2027 )
106th Ave . N . - Sidewalks from Vanderbilt Drive to US 41 ( Design planned FY 2027 )
91st Ave . N . - Sidewalks from Vanderbilt Drive to US 41 ( Design planned in FY 25 & Construction planned to start in FY 27 )
The sixth project is the Vanderbilt Drive Sidewalk Project ( from Vanderbilt Beach Road to 109th Ave . N . ) which is proposed to be five feet wide and constructed along the east side of the roadway for approximately 1 . 2 miles . A pedestrian crosswalk and Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon ( RRFB ) ( video at
https://www . youtube . com/watch?v=woZJtSD4q3s ) will also be added to allow pedestrians and bicyclists to cross to the west side of Vanderbilt Drive where the sidewalk continues from 109th Ave . N . to 111th Ave . N . ) .
Approximately $852 , 000 in grant funding is programmed by the Florida Dept . of Transportation for this sidewalk projects’ construction which will cover a major portion of the estimated total construction cost of $1 . 2 million . TMSD plans to advertise this project for bids in February of 2024 . Construction would start in late summer/early fall .
Two or more members of the Board of County Commissioners ( BCC ) may be present and participate at this meeting . The subject matter of this meeting may be an item for discussion and action at a future BCC meeting .
