Hey , just wanted to let you know that the U . S . Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology ( NIST ) is looking for some input on how to implement the recent Executive Order on AI . They ' re asking for feedback from a variety of sources to help develop guidelines and standards for the safe and responsible use of AI . The goal is to harness the power of AI while protecting people from its risks . If you ' re interested , you can provide input on topics like AI red - teaming , generative AI risk management , and global technical standards for AI development . NIST is looking to engage with the AI community to advance our understanding of AI safety and trust , so feel free to share your thoughts through this request for information . This is all part of a larger effort to establish guidelines for the responsible development and use of AI . You can find more info about NIST ' s assignments and plans under the Executive Order , as well as opportunities for public input , on the NIST website . You have until Feb . 2 , 2024 , to respond , and your responses will be posted on www . regulations . gov . The feedback collected will help NIST create guidance that will be open for public comment .
