About the position:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide public education, awareness and enforcement of Municipal by- laws in a consistent and efficient manner; with emphasis on voluntary compliance. As duties include responding to complaints and investigating appropriately, preference may be given to students in, or persons interested in the law enforcement environment. Preference may also be given to those candidates that would be open to returning in 2023.

Work performed:
Under the direction of the Manager of Licensing & Enforcement:
Ensures compliance with the provisions of the Municipality of Jasper Bylaws with particular emphasis on parking control;
Accomplishes, wherever possible, voluntary compliance with Bylaws;
Enforces Bylaws by issuing violation tickets when voluntary compliance efforts fail;
Conducts foot, bicycle, vehicle and other patrols as required;
Impounds and ensures the safety and well-being of loose, dangerous or abandoned domestic animals in the Town of Jasper;
Cooperates with the Parks Canada Warden Service on matters of domestic animal-wildlife encounters within the Town;
Acquires and maintains an understanding of the context and functioning of local government in Jasper, including the Municipality of Jasper's relationship with Jasper National Park and the Parks Canada Agency;
Works effectively with, and maintains positive relationships with other staff members and department of the Municipality of Jasper and the general public;
Becomes familiar with and carries out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Municipal Health and Safety Manual and with Occupational Health & Safety regulations;
Participates in the proper operation of the Municipal vehicle impound and storage facility;
Assumes the duties of the Chief bylaw Enforcement Officer when designated to do so in that person's absence;
Undertakes other related duties as required
Qualifications & Experience:
Your resume and cover letter must clearly describe how you meet the following minimum qualifications:
Minimum of grade 12 Diploma
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
Current Standard First Aid Certificate
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Preference
may
be given to applicants who hold a diploma form an accredited law enforcement program or similar program, or who have experience in a similar field.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Municipality’s Bylaws.
Knowledge or proper interviewing techniques
Familiarity with the relationships between Municipal authorities, the RCMP, and Parks Canada.
