   JOB SUMMARY
   Performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the service, maintenance, and repair of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles and equipment.
   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
   Performs a variety of maintenance and repair work on gasoline and diesel-powered engines and equipment for the County Road & Bridge Department; diagnoses and corrects problems and malfunctions in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other systems; performs overhauls and other advanced engine repair work.
   Provide direct supervision, mentoring, training, and coordination of maintenance repairs of the Mechanic/Light Equipment Operator.
   Operates trucks to make emergency road service calls; operates other vehicles including heavy equipment for testing and to position vehicle in the shop for repair.
   Performs routine service and maintenance of equipment and parts; replaces worn or defective parts including fan belts, bulbs, fuses, alternator belts, and batteries; repairs and replaces tires as necessary.
   Performs body repair work; repairs damage to vehicles and heavy equipment; installs new or repaired parts; and paints vehicles.
   Operates oxyacetylene and electric arc welding equipment and other repair equipment; fabricates metal parts and components as necessary.
   Prepares and maintains records of work performed including parts and labor required.
   Performs heavy physical labor required in lifting, carrying, and positioning parts and components in repair work.
   Maintains and orders parts and supplies for repairs and maintenance as required.
   Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
   Licenses or Certifications:
   Must possess or be able to obtain a Colorado Commercial Class A Driver’s License and State Inspection License. Must possess or be able to obtain tools required to perform the duties of this class.
