Tiburon California - Marin County Gun Buy Back Event on June 4 20 May 2022 ( news )

It is a terrible reality that guns continue to proliferate in Marin County* and can be used in homicides , crimes and suicide . As a community , we want to do all that we can to provide the opportunity to remove unwanted guns from our homes . One of those actions is a Gun Buy Back event which is being co - organized by Marin County DA’s office , Marin County Sheriff , San Rafael PD and SR Mayor Kate Colin and Fairfax Mayor Stephanie Hellman . Gun buyback events were held in Marin in 2013 and 2016 although there have been more recent events held in San Francisco .
The event will be on June 4 , 2022 from 9:00AM to 1:00PM at the Marin County Sheriff ' s Office ( 1600 Los Gamos Road , San Rafael ) . The event will offer $100 for handguns , rifles , and shotguns , and $200 for assault weapons . Firearms must be functional . Limit 3 firearms per person . Drive - up only , firearm unloaded in trunk . Boxed ammunition will also be accepted for disposal , but not buyback .
Organizers are accepting donations from organizations and the general public . The City of San Rafael is managing the fund and to participate , please send checks to: City of San Rafael , 1400 Fifth Street , Attn: Finance Rm 204 , San Rafael 94901 . Specify that the donation is for “Gun Buy Back” . Donations are tax deductible ( City EIN number is 94 - 6000424 ) and organizers are hopeful that with the participation of many people in our community , enough funds will be raised to have a successful event .
