Summary
The Charter Township of Grand Blanc is accepting applications for the position of full-time Maintenance Technician for the Parks and Recreation Department. The individual must be available to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays. Pay rate $19.70/hr.
Supervision Received:
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Parks Crew Leader or Parks and Recreation Director or his or her designee.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
Performs grounds upkeep including mowing, landscape maintenance, fertilization of fields, splash pad and dog park maintenance, and snow removal and staffing for community events.
Assists with review of calendar for facility rentals.
Assists with daily cleaning of pavilions based on calendar.
Ensures fields are groomed and lined for events and practices.
Open and/close park as scheduled by Parks Crew Leader.
Ensure irrigation systems throughout the park are functioning properly.
Assist with janitorial duties including but not limited to trash removal, maintaining light fixtures cleaning of restrooms.
Maintains a clean work area and equipment.
Minor repair work of park facilities and grounds.
Assists with ordering of supplies as needed for pavilions, fields, and equipment and facilities.
Assists with annual winterization of facilities and equipment.
Provides secondary assistance to Senior Center.
Provides snow removal for park facilities and Senior Center.
Maintain compliance with all department and Township policies and procedures.
Provide snow removal for park facilities.
Coordinates seasonal and part-time employees in the absence of Parks Crew Leader.
Perform related duties as assigned by Director and/or Supervisor.
Provide excellent customer service for park visitors and disseminates information about facilities, events and programs.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualification for Employment:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given.
AED/CPR Certified
Successfully pass a pre-employment physical that includes drug testing and a background check
Possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s license.
A Michigan Commercial Pesticide Applicator License 3A and 6 within six months of employment
Certified Playground Safety Inspector or Playground Maintenance Technician Certificate within six months of employment.
Wear prescribed uniform, identification, and personal protective equipment.
Must be able to work irregular hours including weekends and holidays and irregular hours.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; the employee must regularly stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Employee must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and up to 150 pounds using team lift.
Work Environment
The employee is frequently working near moving mechanical parts; the employee is subject to outdoor weather conditions (humidity, high heat, cold, rain etc...)
