During assigned hours, is responsible for the checkout desk. This front line work includes: checking materials in
/
out using the library’s ILS system for holds, over dues and item lookups. Provides excellent customer service and appropriate customer privacy and confidentiality. Assists customers in navigating the library and its resources, both physical and online. Assists customers with computer/printer usage and other public-access technology provided by the Library. Coordinates routine work assignments to ensure efficient customer service tasks are completed. Performs opening and closing procedures.
Conducts reference interviews in person and on the phone to determine specific informational requirements which include: Readers’ advisory, placing reserves and inter-library loan requests.
Maintains shelves by arranging materials according to library filing rules.
Conducts evaluations and sales of donated materials.
Answers telephones, transfers calls and provides information to callers, calls patrons to deliver messages or information on library materials.
Performs other duties as assigned.
