Visit Lewisville Texas - Lewisville Library earns Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award 01 January 2100 ( news )

The Lewisville Public Library has received the 2023 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association ( TMLDA , ) an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League . To successfully receive the Achievement of Library Excellence Award , the library must exhibit excellence by providing services to underserved and special populations , enhancing services , marketing in innovative ways , promoting cultural , topical , and educational programming , providing literacy support , providing summer reading clubs , pursuing collaborative efforts , supporting workforce development , providing for digital inclusion , and comprehensively training staff .
The Lewisville Public Library demonstrated distinction with its nearly 1 , 000 programs and events offered in 2023 . Programs like Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros , a celebration of children , books , and reading , with over 275 kids and their families in attendance , and Walk N Talk , an 8 - week series and collaboration with Better Living for Texans that had 86 people take a 30 - minute walk at Central Park then learn about developing healthy habits .
The Library expanded its digital collection with the addition of ConsumerReports . org and America’s New digital newspapers . It also added the Lucky Day Collection , a special collection designed for fast turnaround of popular and new titles that are in high demand .
In 2023 the Library made technology improvements with an upgrade to a microfilm scanner in the Digital Media Lab , allowing patrons to view microfilm and microfiche with higher image quality , keyword search capability on scans , and easier editing and printing capability .
The Library’s website underwent a complete redesign with a fresh new look and improvements to the user experience including features for easier searching and faster navigation , a Featured Books carousel , and an enhanced mobile version for improved functionality on mobile devices .
Of the 545 public libraries in Texas , only 84 received this award in 2023 .
