On Friday , December 22 , 2023 , Legislator Leslie Kennedy hosted a Blood Drive from the New York Blood Center at her Hauppauge Office in the North County Complex . Despite the impending Christmas holiday , 26 pints of blood were donated .  
   Due to the short - time frame , only social media and word of mouth were utilized to promote the blood drive . The turn - out was still tremendous , a testament to the giving spirit in the 12th Legislative District .
