The City of Litchfield is seeking a Lake Superintendent to provide oversight and ensure the proper maintenance of all grounds and facilities at Lake Lou Yaeger and Litchfield Lake.
Key responsibilities include lake patrol, enforcement of rules and regulations, and managing the operations of the marina, beach house, picnic facilities, campgrounds, dams, and all other facilities and operations as designated by the City.
Associates Degree in a related field with a minimum of 4 years of experience in park management, lake operations, natural resources or related job experience preferred. Residency at the Lake Superintendent’s house is required within 180 days of hire. Salary $55,000-$65,000 DOQ.

Position Summary:
The City of Litchfield is seeking a Lake Superintendent to provide oversight and ensure the proper maintenance of all grounds and facilities at Lake Lou Yeager and Litchfield Lake.
Essential Duties:
Facilities, Grounds & Equipment Management:
Manages operations of all lake facilities including the marina, beach, beach house, picnic facilities, campgrounds, dams, and all other facilities and operations as assigned.
Patrols the lake and enforces rules and regulations.
Oversees facilities and grounds, including the lake itself. Manages improvement projects for facilities and grounds.
Facilitates the purchase of supplies and equipment for all lake facilities.
Manages inventory of sundries for marina and beach house.
Assists with snow plowing.
Licensing & Permitting:
Coordinates hunting lotteries, campground lottery, etc.
Handles marina fuel inspection and license.
Facilitates all licensing, inspection, and testing of water samples.
Holds food handling licenses and ensures all required staff is licensed.
Responsible for firework licensing permit, set up, and display.
Department Head Duties:
Maintains, compiles and prepares records, letters, memos, forms, accounts, payroll, requisitions and reports of all activities.
Maintains professional certifications, attends trainings, and maintains memberships in relevant professional organizations.
Maintains individual knowledge and skills to be able to carry out duties of departmental personnel.
Reviews and recommends annually Lake Lou Yaeger fees for Council approval.
Develops, implements and adheres to annual budget.
Hires, trains, and evaluates the work of departmental employees.
Evaluates priorities, policies, and programs with respect to the services and activities of the Lake Department.
Attends City Council meetings and any other required meetings and prepares agenda items.
Lake Leases, Point of Sale System, Marketing:
Maintain records by renewing annual lake lot leases, new lake lot leases. Inspects and enforces terms and conditions of lease and rules and regulations. Responds to inquiries from lease holders.
Reviews and investigates service requests.
Oversees cash handling of daily receipts/makes deposits.
Utilizes POS/reservation system and ensures all employees are trained and use the program.
Oversees and coordinates with Tourism Coordinator for marketing the lake and conducting special events.
Performs other duties and functions as required or assigned within scope of position.
Work Environment:
Fieldwork will be required, most often on the lakes and on their grounds. The job may result in exposure to extreme weather conditions. Work in a general office setting with a high level of public interaction is also required.
Tractors, boats, snowplows and general office equipment may be required to be utilized.
General work hours are 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with patrol and supervisory hours on Saturday and Sunday at a minimum of 8 hours per week during peak season with lake patrol. The position requires 24-hour on call duty, seven days per week. The peak season schedule will require greater weekend hours, which may be exchanged for scheduled time off during weekdays. A typical week will consist of 40 hours, with the possibility of additional hours during peak season. Only one week of vacation leave can be used during the peak period of Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Minimal travel may be required.
Qualifications:
Associates Degree in a related field with a minimum of 4 years of experience in park management, lake operations, natural resources or related job experience preferred. The Lake Superintendent will be required to reside in the Lake Superintendent’s house within 180 days of hire. A lease will be provided and may be reviewed prior to acceptance of the position.
