City Council will
issue a proclamation declaring June 16 , 2022 as “Fiesta Ranchera Day” in the City of Goleta and give Certificates of Recognition to the Spirit of Fiesta , Tara Mata , and the Junior Spirit of Fiesta , Layla Gocong
. Fiesta Ranchera is a collaboration between Old Spanish Days and the Goleta Valley Historical Society that will take place on June 16 at the Rancho La Patera & Stow House . The event will feature performances by the Spirit of Fiesta , Junior Spirit , and local entertainers . The 98

Council will hold a public hearing on the
Hollister Avenue Old Town Interim Striping
Project
( project ) . The project includes implementing parking and multi - modal improvements envisioned in the Hollister Avenue Complete Streets Corridor Plan Project , using low - cost materials ( e . g . , striping ) . These striping plans would reduce Hollister Avenue from four to two lanes to allow for improved bike lane and pedestrian movements , while enhancing parking . Since the approval of the project in January 2021 , staff has evaluated the two alternatives in the Hollister Avenue Completes Streets Corridor Plan Project as well as a third alternative that adds diagonal parking in the center of Hollister Avenue . Staff will present the three alternatives to the City Council and are recommending Alternative 3 . Read the staff report at

City Council will
discuss a potential sales tax measure , public opinion polling results , and Props and Measures community outreach contract amendment
. The City Council has long recognized that in order to meet its current and future infrastructure needs and the City service and program priorities of the community , the City will need to establish an additional source of ongoing locally - controlled funding . The City has significant revenue limitations given the City’s current sales tax rate , which is tied for the lowest in the County . The City also has significant ongoing unfunded liabilities and other unfunded priorities which include deferred maintenance and implementation of master plan documents and approximately $105 million in unfunded Capital Improvement Program ( CIP ) projects . The passage of a one percent sales tax ( adding a penny to a $1 purchase excluding essential purchases such as groceries and prescription medicines ) would enable the City to address many of its unfunded priorities . These new revenues would remain solely in Goleta . The staff report is available here:
