January 2 - 31 | 9 am – Noon Tuesday , Wednesday , & Saturday | Biodiversity Education Center
Drop in during visiting hours every Tuesday , Wednesday , and Saturday to learn about the Biodiversity Education Center , Coppell Nature Park , and the seasonal programs offered . While you’re there , learn about the local environment through self - guided activities and interactive resources . Then , take what you learn out on the trails to become true EcoExplorers!
Coppell Historical Society – Kirkland House Tours
January 3 - 6 | Wednesday – Saturday 11 am – 5 pm | Kirkland House
Built in 1904 , the family home of John M . And Edna Jeanette Kirkland and their children Hubert , Lois , Sallie , Jewel ( Jack ) , Stringfellow , Louise , Carroll , and one who died in infancy is open for tours . It was moved from its original location 474 feet due west and restored in 2011 by The Jean and Price Daniel Foundation , the Coppell Historical Society , and the City of Coppell .
FCNP Guided Hike – Wildlife from A to Z
January 6 | 9 - 10 am | Biodiversity Education Center – Coppell Nature Park
Look for plants and animals with names for each letter of the alphabet and use the iNaturalist app to identify unknown species . Hikers are asked to wear protective clothing and bring a water bottle .
Registration is required . Participants under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult .
Saturday Make & Take Crafts
January 6 | 9 am – Noon | The Mr . Cooper Group Lobby Gallery
How about a fun , creative start to your weekend? Bring your family to the Coppell Arts Center one Saturday each month for free make - and - take craft workshops . Stop by anytime between 9 am - noon to create your craft . Kids will receive a do - it - yourself craft kit that they can assemble and customize at art stations inside the Coppell Arts Center . A parent must accompany all children at all times .
Coppell Lions Club Board of Directors Meeting
January 8 | 7 pm | First United Methodist Church of Coppell
Members of the Lions Club are invited to attend the monthly Board of Directors meeting in the Library Meeting Room .

Four Day Weekend
January 11 | 7:30 pm | Coppell Arts Center
It may be a Thursday , but you can kick off the weekend early at the Coppell Arts Center! Join the comedians named “Best Entertainment Experience in Texas” for an award - winning show built around audience suggestions and participation . Four Day Weekend will fill your evening with side - splitting laughter and a comedy experience to remember . It’s never the same show twice! Come back next month for an all - new show with new improvised material .

Backyard Composting
January 12 | 3:30 - 5 pm | Coppell Senior and Community Center – Multi - Purpose Room
This is a beginner class on the basics of how to create your own compost at home utilizing food scraps and other organic waste that would normally be thrown away . This is a simple , passive way to improve your soil biology at home .
Registration is required .
BEC New Volunteer Training
January 13 | 9 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center
Are you passionate about environmental conservation? Do you enjoy helping others learn about nature? Become a volunteer for the Biodiversity Education Center! New volunteer training includes an overview of volunteer opportunities , program logistics , and safety protocol .
Registration is required .
BEC Docent Training
January 13 | 1 – 4 pm | Biodiversity Education Center
A Docent is an adult volunteer who receives additional training that qualifies them to lead activities such as guided hikes , learning stations , and service projects . CPR/first - aid training is provided by the BEC free of charge on this date , or you may provide proof of certification through another agency . BEC Volunteer Training is a prerequisite for Docent Training .

Darren Nicholson
January 13 | 7:30 pm | Coppell Arts Center
A Grammy nominee and winner of 13 International Bluegrass Music Association awards , Darren Nicholson has taken his own brand of mountain music around the world . A regular for years on the Grand Ole Opry out of Nashville Tennessee , and a founding member of acclaimed bluegrass group Balsam Range , Darren now spends his time recording , writing new songs , and performing . You can catch Darren almost every week sharing the music he loves somewhere , traveling both nationally and internationally - as a solo artist , with his own Darren Nicholson Band , or in collaboration with other musicians .

Is your New Year ' s Resolution to more actively engage in Coppell? Come to the meeting and see how you can easily connect . The program this month is two parts . ALC welcomes Jan Rugg , Coordinating Manager of Public Affairs for Atmos Energy Corporation , who will gift a donation . Member Lynne Ryan will lead attendees is putting together games for goody bags for The Night to Shine participants on February 9 . Members will also assist during that evening ' s events . After the meeting , members and guests will continue with a relaxed Dutch treat lunch at a local restaurant . New members are always welcome .
