Jackson Hole Fire/EMS is starting the new year with new equipment at Fire Station 7 , located in Adams Canyon .
Jackson Hole Fire/EMS welcomed the addition of a Pierce Enforcer Rescue Pumper , an apparatus that many consider to be the Swiss Army Knife of rescue pumpers .
“This one apparatus can service all hazards emergencies , ” said Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Captain Jim Little . “The new rescue pumper will greatly increase the response capabilities of Fire/EMS and Station 7 personnel .
The cost of the new apparatus totals $704 , 494 and was budgeted from the Town of Jackson and Teton County General Funds; and while the apparatus is new to the department , the design and build phase took approximately 18 months , starting in the Spring of 2021 , and receiving its final inspection in Fall 2023 .
The Pierce Ultimate Configuration ( PUC ) allows maximum maneuverability while also creating a significant increase in storage capacity , which gives it the ability to respond to an array of all hazard emergencies .
The engine pumps 1 , 500 gallons of water per minute , making it the most efficient pump in the department’s fleet and an excellent resource for structural fires . The added space for emergency medical supplies also provides the capability for the engine to assist ambulances during medical responses . Other highlights of the new apparatus include rope rescue equipment to allow for over - the - edge rescues; Hurst extraction tools for vehicle accidents; swift water equipment to assist with water rescues; and wildland firefighting gear to aid in the suppression efforts during wildfire incidents .
“We are excited to start training on the new pumper and begin servicing the community with it , ” said Captain Little . “Most importantly though , we want to thank the community for their continued support and appreciation . ”
The media is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new apparatus on Wednesday , January 3 , 2024 at 6:00 p . m . at Adams Canyon Station 7 .
