Secretary Granholm is leading a delegation from the U . S . to Paris for a global meeting on energy security and clean energy transitions . This meeting is a major gathering on climate and energy following COP28 in Dubai . The International Energy Agency ( IEA ) was created to address the oil crisis in the 1970s and has now become a leading source of energy data and a platform for clean energy transitions . The Ministerial Communiqué reflects the global commitment to transition away from fossil fuels . The United States will work with the IEA to promote a global target on energy storage and renewable energy capacity . This year , the U . The IEA is also in discussions with India about becoming a member . Secretary Granholm sees India ' s energy future as crucial for the world ' s energy future . Some highlights of the event included the opening of the first IEA Regional Cooperation Center in Singapore , ongoing efforts to support clean energy transition in Southeast Asia , and the importance of diversifying clean energy supply chains . Ministers also emphasized the need to continue working towards the objectives of the IEA ' s Critical Minerals Security Program , as well as addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine . Discussions at the Ministerial focused on promoting diversity and inclusion in clean energy initiatives , with a special emphasis on innovation and collaboration . Secretary Granholm and other officials held meetings with various countries and private sector leaders to discuss energy and climate issues . Additionally , Secretary Granholm launched the U . I helped lead this cool thing called the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation ( P - TECC ) , which involved 22 countries .
