Internal Auditor
(AACOG)
Examines, investigates and reviews records, reports, financial statements, and management practices to ensure legal compliance with state and federal statutes and internal regulations for all grant programs, contracts and applicable service providers; Prepares reports of findings, outlines discrepancies and recommends corrective action plans. Conducts risk assessments of programs or departments in established timeline; Establishes risk-based audit programs; Performs program fiscal monitoring to determine compliance with policies, laws, rules and regulations; Examines and analyzes management operations, internal control systems and structures, and accounting records for reliability, adequacy, accuracy, efficiency and compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations and performs statistical and random sampling; Prepares monitoring reports of findings, discrepancies and advises on requirements, liabilities, and penalties of compliance and noncompliance, and recommends a corrective action plan as well as improved accounting system controls; Subcontracts fiscal monitoring, desk reviews, related reports and letters; Directs the preparation of the state and federal program audits and monitorings; May assist in performing audits to determine compliance with laws, rules, and regulations; May conduct special investigations of questionable practices or records and may provide testimony at formal or informal hearings.
Desired Degree/Job Experience:
Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and five (5) years of financial experience, through public accounting/auditing and/or industry experience; CPA or CIA preferred; Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training. Other Qualifications: Knowledge of accounting and auditing methods and systems; Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, generally accepted auditing standards and procedures of computer technology principles, and automated systems; Proficient in Microsoft applications with an emphasis in Excel spreadsheets; Ability to read, write, speak and understand/communicate in English; Excellent integrity, demonstrate good moral character and interpersonal skills.
This position is a Pay Grade 20. Salary commensurate with experience. This is an exempt position.
