The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is currently accepting applications for an
    I.T. Systems Technician
    
   in the Information Technology Department. The City of Mont Belvieu is a growing community located on IH-10 east of Houston, Texas in Chambers County.
   POSITION SUMMARY:
   This position is responsible for providing prompt and accurate response to technical issues through discussions with users on a variety of issues. Identifies, researches, and resolves moderately complex technical problems. Responds to inquiries submitted via the ticketing system and occasionally via phone, email and personnel requests for technical support, and documents, tracks, and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
   Provide desktop support to end users for PC, network, applications, and mobile devices.
   Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve user software and hardware problems.
   Interact with City departments to restore service and/or identify and address desktop issues.
   Identify and research system modifications to reduce user problems.
   Keep up-to-date with current IT knowledge and technology trends.
   Escalate more complex problems to senior-level support after exhaustive troubleshooting.
   Answer questions and applying knowledge of software, hardware, and procedures.
   Work with Systems Operations Lead to contact software and hardware vendors as needed.
   Maintain PC inventory and manage asset management database.
   Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds periodically to properly locate utility lines.
   Requires the availability to be on-call, including some mandatory evening work.
   May require weekend and holiday work when necessary.
   During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
   Performs any and all other related duties or assignments as assigned.

   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
   No supervisory responsibilities.
    
   REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
   High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and some college. 
   Previous IT experience as Desktop Support Specialist to IT Technician.
   Two (2) years’ experience with Help Desk Support.
   Two (2) years’ experience with Desktop Support.
   Two (2) years’ experience with MS Office Support.
   Two (2) years’ experience with General Networking.
   Two (2) years’ experience with General Security.
   Two (2) years’ experience with Asset Management.
   Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package
   Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with acceptable driving record.
   Successful candidates must pass pre-employment drug screen, job related physical and background check.
    
   PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
   Certifications are a plus (e.g. CompTIA A+, Network+, MCP, etc.)

   Solid understanding of IT concepts and principles.
   Knowledge of computer, networking and security concepts.
   Ability to operate a computer to document and close tickets.
   Ability to look beyond the standard solutions.
   Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
   Ability to work independently and with a team.
   Ability to meet deadlines and manage stress effectively in high-pressure situations.
   Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to a varied audience.
   Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality required.
