Multi - Agency Task Effort Leads to ArrestALBUQUERQUE , NM—On May 2 , 2022 , the United States Marshals Service Southwest Investigative Fugitive Task Force ( SWIFT ) arrested Jonathan Gabriel Martinez in the northeast area of Albuquerque . A felony arrest warrant had been issued in Bernalillo County in October of last year . Martinez had been charged in the July 10 , 2021 , murder of Trevonte Robbins . During the incident , Robbins was struck and killed by gunfire and another victim sustained gunshot injuries . This incident occurred in the vicinity of Central Avenue and 4th Street in Albuquerque . The warrant , filed in the Second Judicial Circuit , charges Jonathan Gabriel Martinez with first - degree murder , conspiracy , aggravated battery with a deadly weapon , aggravated assault with a deadly weapon , and assault with intent to commit a violent felony ( murder ) . The U . S . Marshals Service was asked to join the investigation in search of Martinez in November 2022 . Upon his arrest today , investigators found a silver revolver on the floorboard of the vehicle Martinez had been driving and a woolen “ski mask , ” with apertures for the eyes and mouth . “Today’s arrest of Martinez is significant because it sends a message to all violent offenders that they will not be allowed to continue to instill fear in our community , ” said Sonya K . Chavez , United States Marshal for the District of New Mexico . “Our community deserves peace of mind and so do the families of the victims of these heinous crimes , ” she added . “This investigation highlights the strong partnership the Albuquerque Police Department shares with our many law enforcement partners , ” said Harold Medina , chief of the Albuquerque Police Department . “Martinez’ arrest is an example of how working together can bring significant cases like this to an end and give some closure to the victims’ families , ” he added . The United States Marshals Service District of New Mexico Southwest Investigative Fugitive Task Force is comprised of investigators from various state , local , and federal law enforcement agencies . Those involved in the apprehension of Martinez include , the Albuquerque Police Department , Bernalillo County Sheriff ' s Office , New Mexico State Police , New Mexico Department of Corrections - Probation & Parole , Department of Homeland Security , and the United States Marshals Service .
