Employees are invited to participate in the city’s annual “Spread the Love” food drive throughout this month to help local food banks bridge the seasonal gap after the holidays , when they often receive fewer donations . Nearly one in six Colorado households with children report they are unable to afford adequate food .
   Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are high in protein and easy for kids to make without adult supervision , which is why the campaign focuses on donations of peanut butter and jelly . Thanks to your kindness , Spread the Love has given thousands of jars of these staples to local food banks over the years .
   Drop boxes for peanut butter and jelly donations will be available throughout February at the following city facilities:
   Commerce City Civic Center , 7887 E . 60th Ave .
   Bison Ridge Recreation Center , 13905 E . 112th Ave .
   Eagle Pointe Recreation Center and Active Adult Center , 6060 E . Parkway Dr .
   Municipal Services Center , 8602 Rosemary St .
