Title: Heavy Motor Equipment Operator (HMEO)
Position: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Hourly Hiring Range: $25.60 - $31.06

Heavy Motor Equipment Operator (HMEO)

Under the supervision of the Working Foreman, the HMEO performs a variety of skilled laboring duties which include the operation and maintenance of motorized equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive)
:
Operation of light and heavy motorized and hydraulic equipment such as heavy trucks, front-end loaders, waste handling dozer, backhoes, tractors
Perform routine maintenance and repair to equipment; perform inspections on departmental vehicles and equipment; maintain equipment logs and reports; and oversee and/or support various operations at the Water, Sewer and Drains Division
Assist in installing, repairing and maintaining sewer pipes, water mains, storm drain pipes, services and hydrants; cleaning storm sewers, catch basins, culverts, associated piping and structures;
Act as a lead person on a work crew; prepare routine records, logs and reports; assist outside contractors engaged in construction and repair activities; assist other Town departments with repairs or other projects as required
Maintain work areas in a clean, safe and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations, and endeavor to continuously improve services provided to taxpayers
Operate snow plowing, removal, sanding, and salting equipment; and provide emergency assistance as required
Requirements
:
To be considered for the position, applicants must have at least:
Requires
a valid MA Driver’s License; CDL Class B; Hoisting Engineer’s License Class 2A & 1B
Requires one (1) to three (3) years of directly relevant experience
General knowledge equivalent to the completion of high school and specialized courses; and the ability to communicate basic project information to members of the public
Advanced-level skills using heavy motor equipment
OSHA 10 Hour Training is required by the end of the first year of employment
Preferred, but not required
Drinking Water Supply License D1-D4
