This documentary film tells the inspiring story of one Wisconsin community working to send thousands of World War II veterans to visit the national memorial built in their honor .
   It’s an ambitious undertaking filled with challenges , and with nearly 1 , 000 WWII veterans passing away each day , it’s also a race against time .
   The trip from WI to Washington , DC is filled with laughter , tears and powerful but seldom - told stories of WWII heroism .
   Honor Flight is a tribute to the Greatest Generation , a salute to the volunteers across the U . S . that serve them , and a meditation on the gift of freedom granted to each and every American .
