January 24 , 2024– Flagler County Public Library is hosting award - winning artist David Contreras , who will give awe - inspiring glassblowing demonstrations at 11 a . m . and again at noon , on Saturday ( January 27 ) on the west lawn of the Main Palm Coast Branch Library .
“We are expecting quite a large crowd , so parking spaces will be at a premium , ” said Chief of Special Projects and Library Director Holly Albanese . “Due to limited parking , those who wish to attend should arrive early . ”
Glassblowing is a forming technique in which molten glass is inflated into a bubble using a tube called a blowpipe . The technique has been used since the first century B . C . making glass one of the most useful materials in human society for centuries , according to the St . Pete HotGlass Workshop and the DMG School Project .
Contreras , a Seattle native , has been blowing glass for more than 20 years . More information about him can be found at

The demonstrations are free to the public and sponsored by the Friends of the Flagler County Public Library . Registration is not required .
