Under general direction of the Accounting Manager, this position assists in the financial activities and accounting functions, computer operations, performs complex statistical analyses, assists with annual budget preparation and the annual financial audit, and develops and distributes internal financial reports. This position requires expertise in administrative and accounting functions. Responsibilities include assisting in accounts payable, accounts receivable, property tax collections, general ledger accounting, and the municipal finance software application.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting
(3) Three years of related professional experience and training that include governmental fund accounting, preparation of Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and financial analysis.
Major Duties:
Assists in daily operation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts and general ledger for the City
Supports staff in providing customer service
Troubleshoots software problems/issues and coordinates resolution with the software vendor and the City’s Information Technology Department
Participates in the development of policies and procedures
Prepares bank reconciliations, year-end closing entries, and audit schedules
Assists Finance Director in year-end closing, annual audit, and ACFR
Assists in the preparation of the annual budget document, including compiling approved departmental expenditure budgets
Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, City codes, City ordinances, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and Government Accounting Standards Board
Provides support and assistance to the Accounting Manager in the departmental administrative functions
Performs other related duties as assigned
