General Purpose:
   This position is primarily responsible for GIS data creation and maintenance and preparation of cartographic products for various departments and citizens.
   Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
   Spatial data conversion using scanner, and/or COGO tools.
   Spatial data migration – Various GIS formats to geodatabase and shapefiles.
   Creation and maintenance of metadata.
   Produce paper and digital maps for various County departments and the public.
   Assist in creation and verification of physical addresses and road centerlines.
   Attendance may be required at community meetings.
   Some fieldwork may be required.
   This position may be required to respond to emergency events as Emergency Support Function 5 and participate in emergency preparedness planning and drills.
   Other duties and projects as assigned and required.
   Nature of Contact with Others:
   This position will interact with other County staff on a daily basis to provide GIS services, data and maps.  This position will also have contact with citizens, representatives from other government agencies or business to provide appropriate GIS data or maps.
   Responsibility for property, materials, money, and confidential information:
   This position is responsible for the equipment used in the performance of the job including vehicles, telephone, computer, fax, printer, plotter, digital camera, copier, calculator and other specialized GIS equipment.  The confidential information obtained and used in performance of duties is subject to the Colorado Open Records Act or any other law or applicable statute. Upon approval, this position may have access to secure buildings 24/7 in order to resolve off-hours system issues.
   Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
    
   Work is primarily performed in an office environment.  Extensive keyboarding involved; some bending or stooping required.  Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.  If fieldwork is required, work may be performed for sustained periods outdoors and occasionally in hot, cold, or inclement weather.  Some driving may be required.
   In the event of a natural or man-made disaster, incumbent may be asked, or required, to assist various local, state, and/or federal agencies with mapping support.  Such events may involve extended hours, potentially dangerous environments, and require an ability and willingness to work in a makeshift facility.
