The Position
This individual will perform skilled line work in the operation, construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission systems; operates a variety of specialized related equipment and vehicles; involves exposure to high voltage energized lines; responsible for safely completing assignments with assigned crew in a timely manner.
The City will also consider applications for Electric Journey Line Worker Apprentice with a starting hourly wage of $18.58.
Location and Hours
This position is located at the Public Works Facility at 1313 W. 1
st
St. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as well as on-call hours. Must be available to respond to calls within 20 minutes and perform duties during emergencies and disasters.
About the Position Type

In this Position, you Will
Complete installation, operation, maintenance and repair of electrical power lines and systems.
Perform installation, programming, testing and maintenance of AMI meters.
Work on-call as required including outages, repairs, out-of-service conditions and substation monitoring.
Need to Have:
Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent
Completion of all requirements of the City’s Apprentice Journey Line Worker Program or equivalent
Apprentice candidates will have received a diploma or Associate degree in Powerline Construction & Maintenance Technology.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid Nebraska Driver’s License and obtain a CDL endorsement within 90 days of hire; Possess first class line workers license or certification.

The City of Alliance Electric System includes 115 miles city and 200 miles of rural overhead and underground lines with a service area of over 150 square miles, which includes 10 miles of trans and sub-trans lines. The system operates with a transmission substation (115 KV) and three distribution substations (7.2/12.5 KV). The Department services approximately 5,000 customers, over 1,700 street lights, 220 irrigation wells and operates out the Public Works Facility, which was constructed in 2002. The Department maintains ten vehicles including a 60 foot and two 50-foot bucket trucks.
