The Town of Belleair is recruiting for a Finance Intern to work with the Financial Director and the Support Services Team. The successful candidate will assist with the Town’s operating and capital budgets; the functions of accounting, grant management, payroll, revenue collections, disbursements, risk management, funds investment, performance audit, along with the associated financial and accounting software. Mathematical skills are essential.
As a member of the Support Services Team, the Finance Intern is responsible for the accurate preparation of fiscal records, reports and accounts for all financial funds, utility billing, capital assets, capital projects and grants. Additionally, ensuring proper and prompt payment for all goods and services, maintaining compliance with town policies, internal controls, GASB rules, GAAP and general best practices in financial management as well as conducting internal audits of any financial functions are part of the essential job duties.
To perform this job successfully, excellent problem solving/analysis skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively are important. Must be able to perform basic accounting functions and be able to create/use Excel spreadsheets. Having experience in exercising sound judgement, Project Management, as well as Time Management skills are needed. Finally, being able to build and maintain collaborative relationships among all departments and stakeholders is essential.
