At approximately 4 a . m . on January 1 , Eugene Police and Eugene Springfield Fire were called to a single - vehicle crash into a power pole at Roosevelt Boulevard and Fergus Road . The driver and sole occupant , a man in his 30s , was found deceased .
    
   It appeared the vehicle was going east on Roosevelt Boulevard and veered off the roadway and stuck the traffic light pole at the northeast corner of the intersection . EPD Major Collision Investigation team responded for a crash investigation .
