Maplewood New Jersey - FREE Safe Bike Skills Course 20 May 2022 ( news )

   The Maplewood Police Department , Safe Routes to School New Jersey , and EZ Ride have partnered up to bring EZ Ride ' s Safe Routes to School & Bike Skills course to Maplewood youth for FREE . The course teaches youth the basic skills needed to safely ride their bikes . Riders will learn about proper helmet fitting , pre - ride safety checks , starting and stopping , scanning , signals , turning , bike handling , and other safe riding tips . Children will then have the opportunity to practice drills on a dun and safe course .  
   Two sessions will be held on Saturday , June 11 , 2022 at the Maplecrest Park Tennis Area ( 1618 Springfield Avenue ) :
   Session 1 from 11:00am to 12:30pm
   Session 2 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm
   A free lunch for participants ( hamburgers , hot dogs , and water ) will be provided from 12:00pm to 1:30pm
   Please note that we are unable to accept walk - ups at this event . All participants must visit
   maplewoodpd . org/events
    to register ahead of time . Each session has only 12 spots , so be sure to register early!
