On January 2 , 2024 , at approximately 10:55 p . m . , an officer with FPD ' s Patrol Squad D was conducting a patrol check in the 400 Block of Waverly Drive in Frederick . This patrol check was initiated based on information obtained by officers regarding a wanted suspect , Lorenzo Alexander Williams , 27 , of Frederick , MD who had an active arrest warrant issued by the Frederick County Sheriff ' s Office for felony assault . Williams was suspected to be residing in the 400 block of Harlan Way in Frederick .
    
   While conducting the patrol check , officers reported hearing what was believed to be a series of gunshots in the vicinity of Waverly Drive and Harlan Way . Officers , with the assistance of Police K9s , conducted a thorough canvass of the area . Evidence of a firearm discharge was located in the 400 Block of Waverly Drive .  
   Through evidence and information obtained at the scene , officers believed Lorenzo Alexander Williams to be involved in the firearm discharge . Officers proceeded to the residence in the 400 block of Harlan Way , where Williams was believed to be residing . Williams was located inside the residence and initially refused to cooperate with officers . Officers continued to communicate with Williams and despite initial resistance , Williams eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident .
   As part of the ongoing investigation , two additional individuals were transported to FPD headquarters for questioning regarding the incident . A search warrant was obtained for the residence 
   and a handgun was recovered
    .  Lorenzo Alexander Williams was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center .
   Williams is now facing charges of Reckless Endangerment , Discharging a Firearm within City Limits , and Illegal Possession of a Firearm .
