The Full-time, non-exempt Heavy Equipment Operator performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties associated with the operation of road construction equipment and the repair, maintenance, and construction of County roads, bridges and right-of-ways. Performs mechanical repairs on equipment as required. This position is classified as a safety sensitive position by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
The position will report directly to the District Supervisor, Lead Worker and/or Senior Equipment Operator and will be compensated at a Grade 24 Step 1 ($22.92 per hour).
As a full-time position, the Heavy Equipment Operator is eligible for all County-sponsored insurance and benefit plans as summarized in SMC 2022 Summary of Benefits and subject to applicable waiting periods.
The position will be primarily based out of an Assigned County Shop located in San Miguel County.
Receives direct supervision from a Road and Bridge District Supervisor, Lead Worker, and/or Senior Equipment Operator.
This position possesses no supervisory responsibilities.
Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Pre-employment and random drug tests are also mandatory.
