Program fees reinstated; provides convenient parking options for employees and customers .
The Town of Danville is implementing some changes to its Downtown Employee Parking Permit Program , which provides employees with nearby parking for their shifts without violating short - term parking restrictions meant to accommodate customers . The program offers low - fee annual parking passes for employees to park in certain nearby zones beyond the short - term parking window . The annual permits are available now , and parking enforcement will begin after a 14 - day grace period .
The fees for employee permit parking have been waived since the start of the pandemic , with a no - fee permit required . In September the Town Council adopted a resolution reinstating permit fees , returning to 2016 rates . Staff have also launched a new online permit purchasing system , making it easier for business owners and employees to participate .
The program divides available permit parking into three zones , with a two - tiered fee structure . Zone 1 is more central to Downtown , and zones 2 and 3 are areas further east and north . As of January 1 , employee parking permits are $50 for zones 2 and 3 , and $25 for zone 1 . These fees are the same as they were when the program launched in 2010 , and the annual fee allows employees and business owners to get to work without having to worry about short - term parking . The program also frees up parking for customers , driving the Downtown economy .
With this intention , the Danville Police Department requires proof of employment when purchasing a Downtown employee parking permit . The permit is a sticker that must be affixed to the employee’s windshield . Employees and business owners can create an account , purchase a permit , and get more information at
www . danville . ca . gov/parkingpermits . Since the fees are being reinstated this year , Danville Police Department will focus on education at first , with enforcement beginning after a two - week grace period .
