   – The City of Asbury Park is in the preliminary stages of design for a new firehouse to be located on Memorial Drive between Bangs and Springwood Avenues . The City’s engineering firm , T&M Associates , along with project architect Shore Point Architecture , presented design plans to Mayor and Council at the Wednesday , 4/27/22 Council Meeting . The approximately 30 , 000 square foot facility will include an emergency management command center , a meeting room , a museum area and flex space for training , rentals and special events . The City is also considering installation of rooftop solar panels .
   “We are thankful to Mayor & Council for providing the opportunity to construct a new firehouse , ” said Asbury Park Fire Department Chief Kevin Keddy , “The current facility has served the City for well for over a century . It’s time to move our team into a modern building to better support our current needs and prepare for the future . This facility is not only an investment in the Fire Department , but also an investment in the community we serve . ”
