Duties Summary
The Prince George’s County Council is requesting letters of interest from highly qualified individuals wishing to be considered for the position of County Auditor. The County Auditor plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the overall activities within the Office of Audits & Investigations, in order to meet Charter mandates. The County Auditor shall prepare and submit to the County Council and to the County Executive a complete financial audit for the preceding fiscal year of selected agencies that receive or disburse County funds, shall perform special audits of the accounts of departing County administrative officials, and shall conduct audits of any agency which is the recipient of funds appropriated or approved by the Council, when deemed appropriate. The County Auditor serves in an exempt status and is appointed by the County Council to serve a five-year term, which may be renewed.
Qualification Requirements
The County Auditor must have a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, public administration or related field. Interested individuals must also possess professional proficiency demonstrated by possessing relevant certification such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or an advanced degree in a relevant field, and at least ten (10) years of experience in the field of government auditing, evaluation, and analysis. Interested individuals must meet all the requirements for the position as of the submission date of their letter of interest and other required documentation.
