   The Position:
   The County of Wetaskiwin invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of full time Community Peace Officer (CPO).
   Reporting to the Director of Emergency and Protective Services, the CPO will provide professional service and support to the existing team of the County of Wetaskiwin and the citizens in which it serves. This position conducts investigations and inspections, issues violation tickets and warnings, as well as other duties that involve Bylaw Enforcement.
   Community Peace Officers are responsible for enforcing legislation as per provincial regulations for Community Peace Officers or their equivalent as defined by the Solicitor General of Alberta and the Peace Officer Program Policy & Procedures Manual.  CPOs are also appointed as County Bylaw Officers.
   Desired Education, Skills Set, Qualifications and Experience:
   Minimum 2 years post secondary education in Law Enforcement or equivalent is preferred.
   Minimum 5 years experience, preferably rural operations, with a municipality in a Level 1 Community Peace Officer operational capacity or equivalent.
   Must possess certification to be appointed as a Peace Officer Level 1 Community by the Alberta Ministry of Justice, Solicitor General.
   Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
   Extensive knowledge in Municipal Bylaws, Provincial Acts, court and legal process, and other related regulations.
   Possesses strong communication skills, verbal and written, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
   Proficiency working in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as operational data bases and software platforms.
   Possesses a Physical Abilities Requirements Evaluation (PARE) on the date of hire with a minimum passing time of four minutes forty-five seconds (4:45) or under and be valid on the date of hire.
   Certifications in Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC).
   Threat Pattern Recognition Defensive Tactics (TPR) or equivalent.
   RADAR/LIDAR certified.
   Extensive working knowledge in Commercial Vehicle Weights and Dimensions enforcement.
   Transportation of Dangerous Good Training (TDG) is considered an asset.
   Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
   Assisting in the preparation, inspection and enforcement of County Bylaws of a regulatory nature.
   Assisting the Crown Prosecutor and the County Prosecutor in the prosecution of County matters.
   Conducting regular/routine preventative patrols and traffic stops throughout the County.
   Enforcing any Provincial Statute for which enforcement authority has been granted by the Province.
   Attend scenes where County owned vehicles or equipment have been involved in an accident and report findings.
   Attend scenes where an accident has occurred on a County road to assess road conditions and signage and report findings.
   Maintaining a liaison with the RCMP and other agencies of a regulatory and enforcement nature and assist other law enforcement agencies when needed.
   Promote public safety/awareness and positive relationships with the community through public education and events when needed.
   Responding to and investigate complaints from County residents regarding County Bylaws and Provincial Statutes, as permitted by the Province.
